American Heritage Girls Troop NC 2911

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
-Jeremiah 29:11

American Heritage Girls (AHG) is the premier national character development organization for girls ages 5 to 18 that embraces Christian values and encourages family involvement. AHG is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. We offer merit badge programs, service projects, outdoor experiences, and girl leadership opportunities.

Here at Center United Methodist Church we meet each Thursday at 6:15pm-8pm in the children’s area in the church basement. We plan a variety of extra special events for the girls and their families each year including:
Mother/Daughter Tea, Father/Daughter Dance, Camping, Sleepovers, and many Outdoor activities.

We are also serving the Welcome/ Lexington community through numerous projects this year, such as Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Gifts, caroling at Grayson Creek, making blankets for special organizations, making cookies for Hospice, and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. We are a very active, fun organization.

Boy Scouts

For over half a century, Center United Methodist Church has been the premier sponsoring organization for the Boy Scouts of America within the Welcome community. Our scouting programs cover Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing and serve youth from ages 7 through age 20. Over the years hundreds of Scouts and trained adults have participated in Scouting programs at Center and have gone out into the community as a force for good.

Scouting programs are dedicated to the development of Citizenship, Character, and Physical fitness. Our Scouting ministry is an outreach to the local community for the training and development of tomorrow's leaders. Scouting programs instill in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that will continue to influence them in their adult lives.

Through the Scouting program Center United Methodist Church provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, and reinforce ethical standards. Scouts learn by DOING. While various activities and other youth organizations and groups teach basic skills and promote teamwork, Scouting goes beyond that and develops practical skills for living, leading, and problem solving.
